Kent wine and fresh Green Farm food pairings

August is the perfect month for al fresco dining, socialising in the sunshine and making the most of those long summer evenings with good food and great local Kent wine.

With that in mind, we've picked out our favourite Kent wines and paired them with nourished farm fresh recipes from right here on Green Farm. Not only are these food and wine pairing delicious, the recipes are nourishing and pure delight for your inner foodie.

Before we reveal the pairings, here's a little info on our local Kent wine vineyards...

Woodchurch and Wayfarer vineyards are both in Woodchurch and only 3 miles from Green Farm; both have started in the last 5 or 6 years. Biddenden Vineyard, 8 miles away, is the oldest family-owned vineyard in England, having been in the same family for over 50 years. Simpsons Wine Estate, not far from Canterbury is making a really strong name for itself and we are just taking their Pinot Noir onto our wine list.

And now onto our Kent wine recommendations and Green Farm Kent food pairings...

Kent wine 1: Woodchurch Classic Brut 2017

Local Kent Wine - Woodchurch Classic Brut 2017

51% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir, 17% Pinot Meunier

Aromas of pear, honey and fresh hay. Apples and peach on the palate, this wine is refreshingly crisp and finishes with long lasting flavours of biscuits and cream.

"Elegant, light, and highly approachable, with notes of walnut, hazelnut, cherry, and red apple. The nose is excellent - glossy and ripe with some complexity, subtle autolysis and a slightly leesy note. The clean and nicely weighted palate is balanced with refreshing fruit, and soft acidity and creamy mouthfeel. With a decent length on the finish, this is a real crowd pleaser."

IEWA Judges 2023

"Developed bottle age of toast, butter, and lanolin for decent complexity. Good freshness and intensity on the palate with a savoury and fruity finish."
